Our kennel is located at our family farm, we are the only kennel in the state of Louisiana that offers so many different services. We offer all breed dog boarding, gun dog training, AKC/UKC Hunt test training, all breed obedience training, occasional retriever puppies & started gun dogs for sale.
Boarding: At Y-Farms, your dog is treated as he/she is part of our family. We are their home away from home. We live on site therefore your dog has 24 hour/ 7 days a week care.
Training: Our kennel does not have a "cookie cutter" training program. We focus on each dog's strengths and weaknesses. Each dog learns and comprehends differently, therefore we tailor our training to fit each dog.
Pups: High-quality field retrievers is our specialty, this has been proven by the many successful hunting retrievers that carry the "Y-Farms" name.
Our kennel has many affiliations. We are an East Baton Rouge Parish licensed commercial kennel. We have been Amite River Hunting Retriever Club members since 2003. Jennifer is the only dog breeder from Louisiana that is a member of the Labrador Retriever Club of America. We are also members of the National Labrador Reriever Club. Our kennel is members of the International Association of Canine Professionals & Association of Professional Dog Trainers. We are recognized as a AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluators. Y-Farms also has a Registered Kennel name through the American Kennel Club.
Our facility is inspected by the East Baton Rouge Animal Control Service each year in order to be issued our kennel business permit. As a breeder with the American Kennel Club, we are randomly inspected. AKC's rules of compliance set the standard for regarding record keeping, identification and maintaining proper care of the dogs and kennel conditions. Our kennel paperwork is reviewed, our dogs are checked to confirm that they are healthy, and our facility is also inspected for cleanliness.
Jennifer founded Y-Farms Kennels in 1998. Y-Farms has always been Jen's full time profession, she does not have another job elsewhere. We have seen significant growth at our kennel over the years but we always strive to keep an at home feeling to all of the dogs who stay with us.
