Y-Farms Kennels Hurricane Preparedness Plan

At Y-Farms Kennels, the safety and comfort of your pets is our highest priority. We have taken extensive measures to ensure we are prepared for hurricanes and severe weather.

Emergency Power & Lighting

Our 24k Generac generator, installed in Fall 2023, powers the entire farm and kennel.  This guarantees continuous electricity, climate control, and security systems even during extended outages.

We also maintain emergency lighting to ensure safe visibility throughout the facility.

Facility Safety & Supplies

Our kennel buildings are reinforced and climate-controlled to withstand severe weather.

We maintain at least 5 days of fresh food, water, and medications for all dogs in our care.

Emergency kits include leashes, carriers, first-aid supplies, blankets, and flashlights.

Staff & Supervision

Our trained staff remain on-site during storms to care for and monitor every dog.

Dogs are kept safe indoors and exercised only when conditions allow.

Evacuation Plans

While we work with dog parents to arrange early pickups during severe weather, we recognize some situations may require full evacuation.

We have secured additional property in Norwood, Louisiana, which serves as our designated backup location for safe relocation.

Transport crates, leashes, and carriers are maintained for every dog to ensure safe travel if evacuation becomes necessary.

Communication & Updates

We will keep owners updated via Facebook and our website throughout the storm. Should any concerns arise with an individual dog, we will contact owners directly.
